Cazador inc. is the Fredericton-based production company owned and operated by Sandy Hunter (he/ him), a New Brunswick-based film & television executive with more than twenty five years of experience at the heart of the Canadian industry.
Born in Florenceville in 1975, Hunter attended Ottawa’s Carleton University School of Journalism. Upon graduating with High Honours in 1997, Sandy began his career as a film and advertising trade magazine writer based in Toronto. He then moved into to producing and content positions with Alliance Atlantis, Res Media Group and co-founded of Toronto production company Soft Citizen. In 2009, he produced the critically-acclaimed documentary Petropolis: Aerial Perspectives on the Alberta Tar Sands.
Hunter was hired by Apple in 2009, eventually rising to become head of Apple TV in Canada, where he worked closely with national and international streamers, broadcasters, producers and distributors.
Since moving back to his home province of New Brunswick in 2021 and launching Cazador Inc. and Cultivation Pictures, Sandy has produced Drop the Needle (Prime Video), Wabanaki Modern (CBC), O’Don’s (Bell), Backyard History (Bell), Car Wash Wars (Bell) and the dramatic feature film What We Dreamed of Them (Crave), directed by Taylor Olson. Sandy has also produced four New Brunswick set proof of concept TV demos for Dislodged, Crustaceous, Justus and Discount Wrestling, as well as directing and producing the short documentary Retrograde.
Sandy is currently producing the documentary feature Facing the Future: The Art and Life of Antony Clavet and two new series for Bell, the documentary series Bricklin and the PEI set comedy series A Lick and a Prayer.
Current projects in development include TV series Silent Tide, Dislodged, Discount Wrestling and Tater Invaders, and feature film projects Laced, Crustaceous and Rum Runners.
Sandy produces and develops television and feature film properties via Cazador Inc. and in partnership with Clem McIntosh via Cultivation Pictures LP.
Sandy is a member of the board of Media New Brunswick.
