SYNOPSIS:
Silent Tide is a gripping procedrual drama blending medical intrigue with environmental mystery. After a personal crisis forces Dr. Laura Bennett to leave her prestigious urban career as an epidemiologist, she takes a position at a modest clinic working as a GP in her rural New Brunswick hometown. Initially, Laura struggles to adjust to the slower pace and deeply ingrained traditions of the town, but her instincts as a doctor and investigator kick in when a series of unusual illnesses begin to emerge.
As Laura digs deeper, she discovers evidence of systemic environmental pollution tied to powerful local industries. Her pursuit of the truth pits her against many of the province’s economic lifelines and the communities that are reluctant to jeopardize their precarious survival. With the help of Marc Dupuis, a former military police officer haunted by his own tragedy, Laura uncovers a conspiracy surrounding the death of his wife and many others that spans decades and implicates the very people tasked with protecting the citizens of the province.
Each episode features a standalone medical or environmental case tied to a regional health crisis, while the series explores overarching themes of corporate greed, small-town dynamics, environmental impacts and the personal cost of speaking out. As Laura fights to protect her patients and expose the many truths, she also must confront her own past, questioning whether she can truly belong in a place she thought she’d left behind.
